Nestled on Orford Road, smack bang in the middle of the beating heart of Walthamstow Village, is Froth & Rind: A cheesemonger come craft beer shop with a reputation for tasty toasties. We were drawn to it like a mouse to a triangle of edam.
Is there a better combo than fine cheese and craft beer? We don’t think so. The cheeses are available to buy separately. Or, like us, you can enjoy them perfectly melted between two slices of crunchy sourdough toast. And the toasties here are simply incredible. On our first visit we ordered the Lincolnshire Poacher special, which came with salami and chilli jam. It was so good we were back there two days later.
Over the past few weeks, we’ve sampled the cheddar & onion chutney toastie and the emmental & chorizo toastie. One of the latest specials, the comté, roasted red pepper & banana is certainly different but was an absolute hit with team Abbeymove.
So how about the craft beer? It’s perfectly perched on the shelves next to the counter and there’s a great selection including some of our personal favourites: North London’s Beavertown and Roosters Baby Faced Assassin from North Yorkshire
If you’re after some lunch in Walthamstow, you can’t really go wrong with Froth and Rind. Last week we sat outside, with the sun beating down, looking on to the glorious Orford Road, while sipping an iced coffee and enjoying another Lincolnshire Poacher special. You can’t really ask much more from a lunchtime bite to eat, can you? And did we mention the delicious cakes and pastries? Yes, they do those too.
